Pseudologos-According to Greek mythology, Pseudologos is the god of lies and falsehoods. This is tied to the ship, The Menadacium, on which the provost travels.  In Latin, the world mendacium means lie or falsehood.  Fittingly, both terms, relating to lies and falsehoods, are fitting for the shady activities by those who work on The Mendacium.

Solublon-Established in 1961, Solublon is the global leader in specialty packaging, specializing in water soluble films. Solublon supplies its products to six continents.  In Brown’s Inferno, Langdon watches a video in which Bertrand Zobrist shows the chemicals for the onset of a great plague placed within a Solublon film seal.

Cocytus-According to Greek mythology, Cocytus, is a river in the underworld.  The name means “the river of whaling.”  In Dante’s Inferno, Cocytus refers to the lowest level of Hell, which is a frozen over lake that includes those that have committed the sin of treachery.  In Brown’s Inferno, Langdon compares the erie setting of Zobrist’s video to the Cocytus of Dante’s Inferno.

C-130-Designed and built by Lockheed,  the C-130 aircraft is a four-engine military aircraft.  Although only originally built to serve for medical evacuation, the C-130 served the following purposes:  “airborne assaultsearch and rescue, scientific research support, weather reconnaissance, aerial refueling, maritime patrol, and aerial firefighting.”  In Brown’s Inferno, Landon takes a C-130 aircraft from the Venice Airport.
