The Wheel

The Eotvos Wheel is referenced throughout S. and is the key to the Chapter 10 cipher.

Facts About the Wheel wheel

-Outer Ring: Contains East and West coordinates, 374 degrees

-Inner Ring: Contains North and South coordinates, 194 degrees

(14 extra coordinates may represent time)

-50 vertical codes, revealed at the window at 0 degrees on the inner ring

How to Use the Wheel

-Find coordinates of a location.

-Line up the E/W coordinates on the inner ring with the corresponding N/S coordinates on the outer ring.

-Read the letters in the window when the coordinates line up.

Location of the Island

-Obsidian Island research that points towards the possible location of the Island to be in the Black Hills. The Island is believed to be an Axis Mundi (p.278) and the Sioux tribe believes the Black Hills are an axis mundi.

-On wheel, at 175ºW, the letters spell out SIOUX. This is the only group of letters to spell a word/name.

Chapter 10 Cipher

In the Chapter 10, there are ten footnotes that each contain a location. Use the coordinates from each city and align the columns in order. The message can be read from right to left, up to down.
