S is asked to a flat on the ninth floor of a building six blocks away from the plaza. “He is ready for whatever may come”; he does not hesitate, even if he might be walking into a room full of agents.

When he arrives at the building, the cold has iced over his body. To regain feeling from one of his feet, he chops his heel against the ground. As the ice under his feet goes skidding away, S sees a plaque on the sidewalk.

Referring to the possible danger that S may face in the apartment, Jen tells Eric that during the meeting with the Ilsa and the English Department, she yells at the people who charge her with plagiarism. “Too much adrenaline”, she says. Eric raises questions about Sobrieiro’s title, “Teller of Tales”, claiming that it can mean either “storyteller” or “liar”. Jen questions the motive behind the plaque– the plaque can be in honor of his life, or celebrating his death. In the end, the discussion centers on the “S” symbols in the corners of the plaque. “Which side is using it?” writes Jen. While Eric points out that “S” symbols are drawn in multiple places with tight connections with Straka, such as Feuerbach’s birthplace and Durand’s Cave, Jen is worried about the “S” symbol right under her bedroom window.
