Osfour hands S. a similar outfit to his and urges S. to put it on. Osfour then explains that they will enter the city and walk through a night market. And stresses to “not call attention to yourself.” S. asks if it is because of Vévoda’s detectives watching. Osfour says that Vévoda doesn’t need the detectives or brown browncoats anymore. He has a network of “Agents” that can blend in everywhere.

In the margins, Jen and Eric talk about “that guy who was talking to Ilsa during the lecture”. Jen mentions seeing him twice: at Pronghorn reading a foreign language newspaper and on a bench. Jen suggests that he might be a visiting scholar and mentions his amazingly sharp nose.

In the footnote, FXC mentions that Straka was very careful with distinguishing Vévoda’s detectives and agents. The latter being “more polished but no less deadly.”
