S. is very much torn and furious. He loads his blow-gun and kills the old guard. But, he immediately becomes despondent. He saved nobody’s life. He hasn’t succeeded to qualify as a generous soul. He has saved nobody and let every adverse calamity happen in front of his eyes. This is the reference when Eric and Jen go on tangents to talk about Eric’s not being able to save his uncle. Eric admits but rather focuses more on his friend Griff and provides a detailed story of Eric visiting his friend in Florida. He explains how he ended up on a fight over some trivial matter. While reading the alumni magazine, he finds out that that his friend had committed a suicide.

WE HAD A FIGHT-IT WAS OVER SOMETHING TRIVIAL-+ WE NEVER TALKED AGAIN. A YEAR LATER HE ACTUALLY DID KILL HIMSELF. I DIDN’T FIND OUT UNTIL I READ IT IN THE ALUMNI MAG’S OBITS.

Shit, Eric I can’t imagine. But it wasn’t your job to save him, either.

S. sees a canoe a little far-away down the river. Blood is running on the side of the canoe and Waqar’s body has disappeared. He sees Anca lying on her back on a fishing net that seems red, probably saturated by her blood. Eric points out if this scence is a connection to corbeau, the beautiful lady, and to durand’s death in madrid.

CONNECTION TO CORBEAU?+TO DURAND’S DEATH IN MADRID?
