From a quick bob of his head, Waqar notifies some of the people from the village and they seem to know that S. is here. Once again, S. mentions how little he understands about his own situation. And even less about all the arrangements of the mission that seems to be defined and sorted before he even left the ship.

The pummeling sound continues and is closer. Despite still being far-off from the sounds, S. feels his body tightening. As the tributary goes rightward, the canoe is sent back to the river’s main artery and another settlement comes to view. Different from the “old village”, this one was larger, more populated and had four long, barracks-like building with a concrete dock. At the dock there was heavy machinery loading ore into container ships.
