S. is quite pleased with this because although it is a rather mundane existence, “he has witnessed no strife or anguish or misery.” This raises the question, is a life of monotony better than a life of action, if those actions have negative consequences? This is continued on page 379 as the narrator sasy “You are unlikely to die violently in the Winter City. But you’re not really living either.”
Eric suggests that Singh and VMS collaborated on Amritsar.
At this point in the annotations, Jen and Eric are living together, as Eric comments “God, it’s cold in this place.”  It is strange that they continue to write notes even though they are living together.
