S. is convinced that the answer to the mystery of the ship’s orlop, perhaps even the answer to his purpose in the world, is in the warehouse on the island. He scans the ship, looking for a way to escape. He notices Maelstrom, who is, strangely, beckoning to S.

S. joins Maelstrom on the walkway. The rocks below them are black, warm, and jagged. Three sailors behind them push a cart towards the warehouse.

Jen wonders why Straka would have been on the movie set. If Straka really were Vaclav it would have been important for him to stay in the shadows.

Eric responds that it probably wasn’t Straka on the movie set.

Jen writes that there might have been multiple stand-ins for Straka. Rumors would spread about Straka but no one would have actually seen the real Straka. Jen’s suggestion supports that theory that “Straka” was not just one man. The name Straka may have been used by many people working for the same goals.

Jen writes that she can’t believe that Eric bought an old car just to get to the park.

Eric writes that he simply wanted to get to the park with Jen, and that he was not trying to impress her with the car.
