S. says “I’ve always thought you know who I am,” but Sola responds with “at much as anyone does,” and “no more.” Eric says “in the original MS, she doesn’t answer him here.” This means that FXC must have added Sola’s response. If this is the case, S.’s question seems as though it could be directed at FXC and Sola’s response seem to be directed at VMS. FXC never had the chance to know him any better than anyone else, he never gave her the chance to be with him properly. As Jen put it, this is “Filomela, to Straka as directly as she could.”

When S. presses the question about who he is Sola makes the distinction that what he really seems to want to know is “who [he was]” which is an important distinction to make. S. must decide whether is really matters to him where I came from because at the end of the day (as Eric puts it) “we are who we are – meaning right now.”
