“Years?”

S. interrupts Osfour. He’s confused on how much time has passed while he was at sea. This once again hints that the time spent at sea or at least the feeling of how much time has pasted, doesn’t correspond to the actual time that has pasted on land.

S. takes a look at his foot and realizes that the discomfort and different skin tone isn’t there anymore. This makes him even more question: Was it really years that he spent at sea? He recalls the last time seeing Sola/Szalómé. Sola seemed to have aged. But still, S. could notice something new:

“unruly, thin tress of dark hair swirling over an olive-toned cheek: another rivulet of dark.”

In the margins, Eric asks Jen about her graduating. Jen doesn’t respond nicely and brings up Eric’s past of being a TA. Later, Jen adds a comment wishing Ilsa wasn’t a TA anymore.
