The work initially attracted a wide variety of responses that included attempts to decipher several of the mysteries and codes embedded in the work. Those that come to our attention will be credited. Of particular note is the S. Wiki at the University of Mary Washington.
The format of this project is intended to account for each individual page of the work. In general comments are divided into two halves: the first references the fictional novel along with the commentary and footnotes by the fictional translator, the second discusses the ongoing correspondence between Eric and Jen. In this complex mixture of fiction sprinkled with references to people, places and events are identified where ever possible including hyperlinks for additional information. This is a collaborative efforts of students in a course at Middlebury College that exposes them to the intellectual life of exploring texts, analyzing and then articulating interpretations. The students have been assisted by Jerrica Davy and Leah Lavigne. I also want to express my thanks Heather Stafford for her technical assistance. All comments and suggestions should be directed to Prof. Thomas Beyer.
