Sola gives S. his valise and he remembers that he saw her in the Territory. She confirms that she was there but when asked who was with her, she is confused. S. knows he saw a younger version of himself in her canoe but she genuinely does not think that. Perhaps this goes back to the tradition of S.’s story. He is connected to Sobreiro through this tradition so his younger self in Sola’s canoe may just be a continuation of the tradition. What is surprising about this section is that Sola was indeed in the Territory and she was able to get his valise but somehow she couldn’t find him until finally coming to the Winter City. How did S. get there?
