This part of the book details parts of S’s escape from the people that are following them. S, Stenfalk, Corbeau, and Pfeifer are part of the group that are escaping, and none of them are sure who the people following them are. Eventually, S notices that the trackers are making progress. They have horses while S and his company are on foot, and it’s apparent that they all must begin to move faster if they hope to survive.

The marginalia consists mainly of Jen telling Eric that she has noticed unknown access codes in the logs for the library. As she says, she realizes that four guest access codes, that do not have IDs have been entering the library. Eric asks if these visitors are entering at the same time as Moody and Ilsa, and as she states, two of these unidentified visitors have been entering at the same time as Moody and Ilsa, while two have come on their own. This obviously arouses suspicion from both Jen and Eric, although it is not discussed much further on this page.
