Page 75 starts with the messages shown in the signs of the protestors in front of Vévoda’s factory. As Eric notes in pencil on the margin, the sentence “They radiate an unmistakeable potential – and perhaps even a taste – for violence.” comes verbatim from The Square. This is interesting because the Haymarket Square riot (real life) is very similar to the happenings in Ship of Theseus. Both protests are led by wrokers unhappy with the conditions and specifically by a man and a woman who are together. In the book, by Stenfalk and Corbeau, in real life, by Lucy and Albert Parsons. More about the relationship between The Square and the real Haymarket Square riot can be found here.
On footnote 4 of chapter 3, FXC asserts the improbability of V.M. Straka being the young factory worker Vaclav Straka. Jen and Eric note that FXC is “inconsistent” when talking about the candidates for Straka and this raise suspicions. They hypothesise:
Maybe there’s more than one ch. 3 code?
or a bunch of FXC misdirections.
