This page begins with a description of the captain who seems to be related to morbid imagery. He is said to have “little yellow tombstones” for teeth and that he was “ladled up from a transoceanic stew of dictions and impediments” (33).  The latter description connotes Davy Jones locker.  This idea that this man symbolizes death in someway could be because he will later be the cause of some sort of death.  Currently I can see him being linked to the death of identity.

The other interesting information in this section comes from the margin comments. In the comments Jen teases Eric that he doesn’t ““know who [he] really [is]” (33).  The relevance of this comment is the idea that perhaps Jen and Eric are the same person with multiple personality disorder.  While seemingly crazy, this idea holds a lot of weight and should be explored further.

Ultimately this page hints at things that should be explored further, but it only begins these searches.
