Then ye’ll be rowed back.” When S. asks why he should come back, Maelstrom mentions Vévoda coming after him. S. is shocked. While deeply in confusion, Maelstrom clamps down hard on his wrist, gets the nail and tosses it overboard.

“Got t’ respect’er, trait’er like a frag a’ y’self. She’s wha’s carrickin us.” Maelstrom tells S. not to be scribbling on the ship.

In the footnote FXC mentions that Straka would also use feminine pronouns when referring to the principles of political and economic reform that were foundations to his writing, his acts of resistance, and his revolutionary spirit. Jen points out that there are no years in the footnote, but Eric mentions that what FXC wrote is true and quotes from a letter from Straka to Karst to confirm.
