Armstrong Library is no longer taking in evaluation forms. If any students drop by with a form have them take it over to Old Chapel.

Shelving at Armstrong
At this time of year Armstrong, as well as the other libraries on campus experience a large volume of returned books. Everyone, on all shifts needs to pitch in and help reshelve. If each shift shelves a little bit then we can keep the books from piling up.
Re-shelving Etc.
A couple of reminders for the Main Circ Desk:
Please assign re-shelving as much as student schedules and desk activity allows
Please review the re-shelving basics with students before they head to the stacks – refer to Rich’s training sheet
Please sweep unassigned carrels that are clearly abandoned – but use your discretion as this is a very stressful time of year
Please discourage squatting in unassigned carrels and study rooms
Sweep shelving/holding carts in the Main Library – always scan/check-in at Circ prior to re-shelving – we recently had lots of books “returned” to the carts – and none of them had been checked in
And as always – double check carts for shelving errors BEFORE they go re-shelving
If time allows – it would not hurt to assign a double check-in at the front desk prior to re-shelving – could help us save a lot of time searching 🙂

End of Term Reminders
A few reminders
Show up for your shift – on time
Prioritize Circ work when on shift
Look around to see who needs help and what needs doing
Keep up with returns – check in CAREFULLY – a missed check-in now causes problems for the borrower and LOTS of extra work for all of us
Work together to keep up with the flood of returns – quality first, but keep up with the flow as best you can
Set equipment aside until you have the time to CAREFULLY check for all parts, coil cables neatly back into the case; delete data and re-charge if needed, etc.
Keep your sense of humor 🙂
When you are not on shift – remember to sleep enough, eat well and laugh
Many, many thanks for all your good work – we know it is a busy and stressful time – and we very much appreciate your help during this busy time.

ILL/NExpress Renewals?
Just a quick note about renewals 🙂
NExpress (blue bands) loans can be renewed up to 3 times.
ILL’s (green and pink bands) can be renewed by request to the ILL Office – ask borrowers to email (or simply forward their “about to be overdue” courtesy library notice) to MDYILL@middlebury.edu to request a renewal.
Overdue materials will require a supervisor override.
As always, please refer requests for extensions beyond these rules to a supervisor.
Thanks!
Elin
