Exam schedules coming up soon!

Just a reminder to everyone that exam time means a few changes in library hours and staffing, less if you’re at the branches, and more if you’re at Main. Here’s a link to library hours for exams for your edification, and for when patrons start asking about extended hours.

Just to hit a couple of the high points for this Spring: Yes, the Main library will be offering the same 24/7 schedule it has in the past, from the last week of classes through the end of exams. Access to the building will be by Midd ID card only after 11pm all nights. (Main library students: a heads-up that the sign-up sheet for exams hours – overnights as well as shifts during the day and evening – will be available on Thursday the 23rd.) We will have both students and a security presence on shift during the overnights. Armstrong will be offering extended hours on the weekend of exams, and Music will be keeping the same hours as they usually do. If anyone has questions, please ask your supervisor. Thanks for helping us staff the library desks at this hectic time of the year!

Sub Requests – Be Specific in the Subject Field

Thanks to you all for your attention to finding subs when you have schedule conflicts, and for jumping in for each other when needed.
One favor – please be specific in the subject field of your sub requests – it makes it so much easier for supervisors to track schedule changes and ensure accuracy of schedules. We see a lot of sub requests every day – and if you list your name, the date, and the time of your shift(s) – it makes it much easier to keep track of the changes. Many thanks! You guys are the best. 🙂

Update on remote controls for 240A & 240B

The remote controls for 240A & 240B are officially off of Kellam’s desk and are now installed in the screening rooms. Instruction sheets for operating the remotes are in the rooms as well, and the Helpdesk can always step in to troubleshoot any issues with the screening rooms.

Supervisors, we’ve added a key to the box in Elin’s office for unlocking the remotes from their security devices (in case the remote batteries run low, etc., and the Helpdesk is not open).

Please let us know if you have any questions!

I’m out tomorrow, and ILL reminders

I’ll be out of the office tomorrow, back Monday. Any scheduling issue see me today (4/16) or contact Maura tomorrow.
I want to remind everyone to update ILL requests after you send them. Remember Odyssey (send through odyssey helper) and Nexpress don’t need to be updated. Ariels do need to be updated as well as Rapid which is updated on the rapid website. There has been confusion about sending rapids. These are sent just like an ariel, using the IP address in the upper right hand corner.

Film project in Bi-Hall on Sunday April 19

A FYI to all Sunday morning workers: From Tim Wickland, building manager:
We have given permission for a student film project to use spaces in BiHall for location shooting on Sunday morning, April 19. The scenes to be filmed in the building will involve realistic-looking weapons, and will take place in the Great Hall and on the third and fifth floors.

Setup will likely begin at around 7:30 AM, with filming beginning at around 8:00 AM. The filming in the Great Hall will be completed by the time the library opens at 10:00 AM; the filming in the upper corridors may extend for a short time past 10:00.

Signs will be posted on the building entrances, and there will be members of the crew wearing orange jackets to direct pedestrian traffic away from the areas where filming is taking place.

You may wish to schedule your activities on Sunday to avoid possible disruptions due to this event. Thanks.
