Stats for February
Total circs: 16762 (down 14% from a year ago)
NExpress borrowing from other schools: 792 – HIGHEST EVER

Highlights:
• Second campus power outage within the week – Music lost power, Main and Arms with power and heat; displaced faculty working in Main (heat and power) and borrowing laptops with charged batteries; lots of questions Fri am about power/light/heat issues;
• General activity levels; VERY quiet at Main on Friday of Winter Carnival
o Music actually busier than usual Friday afternoon
o Armstrong: busy in the morning – very quiet after noon
• Monday – Todd and Nancy only daytime supervisors here – they survived
• Reserves – successful 1st 2 weeks of term processing a mountain of requests for print and e-res
o 1,496 items on Main Reserves
o 8 overdue recalls
o 3 missing Reserve items replaced by Lib Acq
o 1,029 emails processed for Spring Reserves so far
o 0 emails in Reserves inbox
o Reorganized Lib Res mailbox folders
o Editing wiki documentation for Reserves
• Weekend – Steady activity Saturday, with a couple of complaints about closing at 5 – students trying to catch up on work, wanted reserve readings. Sunday morning and day were quiet, lots of activity Sunday night.
• ARMSTRONG: quiet Friday afternoon allowed for filing of a lot of maps
o Very busy Mon and Tuesday this week
o ILL’s steady
o Reserves still coming in
o All Armstrong student shifts filled!
• MUSIC: fairly quiet in general
o Nice to have fewer ILL’s now that CD’s have stopped circulating
• Self-bookings – exploring what should/should not be bookable
• Print quota issues after 5 pm and on weekends – discussions with HD/Circ
• Loaner equipment – tweaking workflows to ensure accuracy at check-in/out;
• Hold shelf clean up – cleared expired ILL/NExpress
• DA Team – finalized submission form for new digitization project proposals
• CT Team – Focus group planning
• Web Team – usability
• Library hours – planning for 1 week stats gate count blitz to review library hours
• This and that – misc supplies and forms stuff
• PFDP work

Challenges
• Reduced hours – Main Circ open at 9; Helpdesk open at 8; many LIS staff and student staff not aware of change to hours despite blog and email announcements and signage; a couple of users were surprised despite signage and announcements
• Student frustration re: early closing on Saturday; needing access to Reserve materials; using long weekend to catch up on work
• both plotters down over the weekend
• Film screenings – issue with a screening happening AFTER the library was closed Saturday
