Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics: Number of people in LIS who knew how many items circulated last year: 1 (and it was not me)
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• 27 ILL requests Monday
• Still working out some Nexpress kinks
• Meeting to discuss shelf-ready books at Armstrong
• Nancy will start doing some barcoding of maps and gov docs instead of sending them over to Davis
• Quiet during break
• Attended Liaison Discussion Session with Carrie
Music:
• Closed for break
• Momentary panic over missing keys, but then they were found
• Glad to be able to swipe ID cards again (instead of typing all those numbers!)
Davis Family:
• Quiet over break, except at closing, when we become the Davis Family Video Rental
• High use of newer Mac equipment, low use of older
• Starting to “shelf-read” the browsing DVDs behind the desk
• Attended a meeting with Joe about the possibility of having a work study student from the Addison Central School District shadow our circ students and possibly shelve books. Circ still pondering the question. Circ students didn’t e-mail back with comments.
• Checked leaks on Saturday
• Patron came to the desk Saturday looking for an AA meeting
• All enjoyed the LIS in-service day
Stacks:
• Activity noticeable picking up
Reserves:
• Stuff still being added
• Kellam on (well-deserved) vacation
CT team: nothing to report
Space Team: nothing to report

Challenges:
• Students peeved they can’t take reserve books “ten feet away” into Wilson Café
• Some confusion over student schedule over break – will sign-up for shifts next break to see if that works better
• Ninjas. They’re sneaky.
• Libcirc mailbox down Friday afternoon/evening

  1. I hear that ninjas in groups are easily defeated; it’s the solo ninja one needs to fear most.
