Workgroups; Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics: 1307 browsing DVD circs in July
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• The Symposium went well – busy
• More ILL training with Morgan
• E-copy on the Armstrong computer updated
• Library sees pretty much the same daily activity – busy in the morning, fairly quiet in the afternoon. The student staff say that the nights are the same.
• all requests are minimal most days
• symposium took place last Thursday = plotter use and problems
• working on processing bindery items for August 10 shipment
• we all tested out the carrel key booking system on Wednesday
• we had our first monthly staff circ meeting with new staff, also on Wednesday
• Carrie gave a reference session today (in Davis) – one of our student staff attended
Reserves:
• BLWC: desk schedule almost completely set; updating signage and binder documentation; continuing to place items on reserve; assisting Noreen with pdfs of workshop manuscripts
• BLSE: heavy returns; classes end on Wed, graduation on Sat.
• Fall Term reserves: will begin pulling books/media next week; reactivating ERes and scanning new documents is in full swing
• Continuing to update Circ staff profiles in Drupal
• Attended wiki/blog how-to
• GREEN ALERT! GREEN ALERT! Reserves will no longer print out the ERes page when creating or restoring a course. Judging by last year’s statistics, that will save us close to 300 pieces of paper.

Davis Family:
• Many books going astray last week; books going to Breadloaf that should have been here and so on. The general consensus was that this occurs when we are fielding many paging slips
• Wiki and blog training for circ staff
• Supervisor computer at circ’s CPU was changed out after errors were not able to be corrected
• Discussion of options for allowing renewals on overdue non-essential items
• First circ meeting with all new staff: lots of food, good discussions
• Test of newly revamped carrel key booking was a success. Working on documentation
• Starting to think about fall student schedules
• Ref training with Carrie
• Monthly stats, search lists generated, searched
• Re-hired Maura as a circ sub – starting in September

Music:
• Quiet
• ILL activity very low
• 25 NExpress CD requests from the same patron
• Students anxious for summer to be over
• Planning coverage for after LS

Space Team: campus-wide survey will be sent out any minute now
CT Team: inviting other LIS staff to meetings to discuss course Hub proposal

Challenges:
• Mill went down on Thursday; Janine and Barbara did an amazing job getting things running smoothly again
• staff sick on Friday afternoon; students left on their own from 4-7pm (no problems)
• Acq order record able to be requested via MIDCAT – issue fixed
• Fac and staff laptops – availability and imaging issues
• The color copier in the lower printing room is configured for photo copy only.
• DVD repair machine out of order
• Not clearing notices after printing resulting in duplicate searching
• Copier toner scam
