User Services Weekly Report

Workgroups; Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
• Reserves
o All things BL: reserve book set up with amazing team of staff and students — 1,300 books were on the shelves in record time! Davison staff training (updated binder and wiki documentation); completed searching project at Davison for missing books.
o LS reserves: slow trickle of requests
• Armstrong
o catching up with email correspondence, since returning to work
o updated work schedule in outlook
o some training with new students in Armstrong
o unpacked and sorted 191 theses, returned from BNB
o fairly quiet in library
o few ILLs, NExpress, etc.
• Music
o Starting shifting project in MT’s
o Sent pre-2006 Middlebury recordings to College Archives
o Very low activity – hopefully will pick up during 7 week LS sessions
• Stacks
o Training new staff
• Space Team: met with Mary re: space questions that affect her departments; toured Music Library
• Davis Family Library
o Lots of staff training, becoming more familiar with procedures, Millennium, etc.
o First week for evening staff training
o Keys assigned
o Phone extensions in the right places
o Panasonic high-end cameras very popular
o As usual, lots of unusual requests from LS borrowers
o Reference training for students and staff with Carrie
o Met with Media services to start developing SLA’s
o Web demo of Circa, Millennium’s handheld shelf-reading and inventory tool
o List of billed items searched before fines are transferred to college bills

Challenges:
o BL work/study students not entered into Mill; can’t request books (had been fixed – Banner load issue)
o Construction all summer on Rt. 125 means longer commute up to and back down from Davison
o Faculty/staff laptops booked for LS registration – not available to patrons
o Request for NExpress pickup at Armstrong, which the system won’t allow
o Front doors of Davis Family Library still problematic (staying locked)
