Workgroups(s); Circulation Services – Circulation, Reserves and Stacks

Highlights:
• Thanks to you all for keeping Circulation Services running smoothly in my absence
• General activity levels – picking up in activity as students prepare for mid-term papers and exams
• Student staffing and schedules – lost another Music student, shifts filled except for Wednesdays 1-3; Summer student applications and schedule planning; student schedules running smoothly; planning for Spring break
• Circ staffing – comfortable with Main routine tasks, but still lots of questions; tweaking schedules to accommodate vacation time
• Print meeting to develop procedures for de-activating printers after 5 pm and on weekends
• Monthly stats, reports generated, search lists printed and searching underway
• Mill Circ – exploring penalty points system to reduce issues with overdue materials
• New books to process for display
• All-LIS staff meeting
• Developed no-print policy for student employee while on shift
• Reserves – Reserves and Reserve Media very active in evenings; continued Reserve processing
• Moved all BLSE/BLWC documentation to new wiki; working to reorganize and clarify info
• Main – Quiet Sunday; activity levels of big waves of quiet/busy
• Armstrong – ILL’s and Nexpress peaking; planning for journals binding project
• Stacks – ongoing re-shelving; documenting procedures
• Changed newspaper delivery procedure; eliminated NYT delivery to Arms; documented on wiki/blog
• Loaner equipment – equipment weeding project underway; gathered stats for low-use equipment; proposed weeding plan
• Digital Archives Team – continued discussion of Digital Center staffing and project management
• Curricular Technology Team – no new activity – still planning focus groups
• Web Team – usability planning
• PFDP meetings underway

Challenges
• Problems with accessing the daily password at Main
• The usual rash of overdue equipment, but nothing major
• Heavy use of Circ printer for student (employee) personal printing
• Issues with software update and front desk computer image
• Issue with reformatting PC hard drives
• Reserves – struggling to get the last few recalled books for Reserves back from borrowers
• Requests for keeping “personal” keys for check-out at Circ
• Statistical data CD-Roms that require software installation and Ethernet cable
• NExpress – broken link issue
• Printer paper disappearing
