Workgroups(s); Circulation Services – Circulation, Reserves and Stacks

Stats: 9210 reserve circs on 2838 reserve items, Fall 2009.
Highlights:
• Web, web, web build-out in preparation for launch Feb 5
• Both Main and Arms busy (in spurts) during the day
• Armstrong – ILL, NExpress request processing steady; turned in 2009 Journal use tally sheets
• Main – evenings @ Main starting to pick up in student activity this past Sun and Mon,
• Stats collecting continues
• Search lists started
• Self-booking testing underway; Innovative called on a couple of issues; Banner load tweaked to make thesis students a new ptype (to help facilitate self-booking of thesis carrels); first load will be next week
• Thesis carrel checkouts continue to trickle: 16 checked out in 2 weeks, 43 still available
• Student staff – filling regular shifts at Arms an ongoing challenge for WT – settled down a little this week; Spring schedule almost set at Music; Circ student signups for Feb break and Spring semester going smoothly
• 3-month “to be replaced” list searched and sent to Collections Management
• Reserves – Armstrong Spring reserves coming in slowly; catching up after vacation — thank you to everyone who helped in my absence; plenty of Reserve requests coming in for S10; W10 requests still being processed each day. 29 ERes course pages restored for S10 already; planning for Reserve schedules, staffing and support 1st 2 weeks of term
• Curricular Technology Team – meeting with ADs on Thursday
• DAT – CT Team: DAT: good meeting with ADs, and we’re finalizing the proposal we discussed with them
• Web Team – build out
• Wiki – moving old Circ wiki content to LIS wiki
• Tweaking the Borrowing page in Drupal
• Stacks – overflow re-shelving completed
• Loaner Equipment – following up on equipment overdues (mostly from faculty); proposal from Media Services to remove firewire drives from circulation,
• Library hours – Feb break, Winter Carnival and editing general guidelines
Challenges
• Worried that self-booking will not work as planned for Spring Thesis carrels
• New screening workflow – who will do what and how; booking items for screenings; figuring out how to best manage the new workflow with Circ and Reserves, Collections Management and Media Services
• Requests for exceptions to screening policies, materials unavailable – short notice for screening requests (checked out or on reserve for another class)
