Meeting minutes 11/4/09

Circulation Meeting
11/4/2009
Present: Kellam, Nancy, Steve, Todd, Rachel, Morgan, Elin, Dan
Notes taken with utmost care and attention by Dan.

There was a very lively discussion to start things off. Then Kellam announced that she had organized her filing cabinet and we were right back to the normal mundane meeting. Thanks, Kellam. Thanks a lot.
Kellam’s move to the reserve area created mild heart attacks. She will be doing more reserve stuff.
Steve has moved to Kellam’s desk and will be doing more equipment stuff. He also asks everyone to keep in mind the communications lag (due to the interstellar differences in time and space) and to try to handle as much stuff as possible on their own. Kellam echoed this, encouraging supervisors to do as much equipment trouble-shooting as they could on their own.
All of the supervisors should be doing more of everything.
Dan and Nancy will be doing reserves Sunday and Monday.
Elin and Kellam are hard at work on a new Reserves Agreement on Level of Service. (RALS)
Rachel and Morgan both volunteered to pitch in wherever needed at circ.
Steve and Rachel then abandoned us to go to a more exciting meeting.
Change is good. Change is good. Change is good.
24-7 exam period is a go. 11/29-12/12. Close at 8 pm on 12/12. This will be staffed by LIS staff first, then circ subs, then students. We will keep stats. At this point, Dan got feisty regarding stats and the (incessant) keeping of said stats.
Kellam, in an attempt to make up for her downer announcement about her filing cabinet, gave an exciting report on the new web site.
The Circ WIKI will, at some point, merge into the all LIS WIKI. As will the blog. (into the all LIS blog.)
Discussion about staff schedules for the next two months. Coverage is looking good until Kellam screws up everything in January.
Discussion on student expectations: supervisors need to document poor performance and let Dan and/or Todd know. Please encourage students to share experiences if they are dissatisfied with a co-worker.
Student expectations will be spelled out for J-term and people “on the bubble” will be warned. J-term will be a chance for everyone to shape up or risk not getting invited back to work in the spring.
Discussion about students reading or not reading the blog.
Discussion about GOALS. User services is meeting to set goals on 11/24. Circ workgroup goals will follow closely after that.
Meeting adjourned.
