Workgroups(s); Circulation Services – Circ and Reserves

Statistics: People who work in libraries never keep statistics.
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments) *
• Coordinating the use of three iPods with photo exhibit in Main Library atrium
• Armstrong is busy with end of term studying, papers, etc.
• Armstrong usually most seats and computers are taken.
• Armstrong Requests are slowing down.
• III Enhancements voting took place on Monday at our circ meeting… (thanks Dan!)
• Busy busy busy!, heavy equipment and laptop and reserves use, some thesis students in the process of finishing up, exams schedule prep and 24/7 prep
• Met with Joy and Terry to talk about how reserves for Mills will be handled (Mills staff will process traditional reserves, we will process electronic reserves). Faculty and student reserves information added to Mills Segue page.
• Completed summer student hiring
• Plans are underway to install a wave pool in front of the circ desk.
• Successfully filled all 14 slots for summer after a few false attempts. Paperwork is in and training has started.
• Have hired 4 students for the fall. Training has started.
• Spring exam schedule is almost totally filled and fall semester signup for shifts is Monday may 4th
• MUSIC: Back from vacation + building still standing = a good thing
• MUSIC: Summer hiring done, scheduling left to do.
Challenges:
• Heavy demand for equipment — end-of-term projects, etc.
• Lots of sub requests; extra workload with staff vacations; a lot of “front end” time at this point in the semester
• One four-hour Dell kept overdue for a week
• Filemaker: many steps to prepare materials for screening – will it ever be streamlined? Also, still feeling the gap from Patty’s absence in entering consistent, reliable information into Filemaker.
• Swine flu paranoia
