Progress on Goals:

Goal: Develop a proposal for staffing plan; LIS services, circulation workflows for Davison Library during BLSE and BLWC Summer 09
• Draft completed

Goal: Develop regular schedule and content for student training
 Annual performance reviews for student employees

Goal: Develop workflow policies/processes and standards for removing personal data from loaner equipment.
Training and instructions for reimaging Mac laptops – workflow changes in progress
Computing stations in progress
Workstation stand ordered; HD imaging of computers in progress
iBook laptop is set up in Equipment Area and ready to delete files from Mac-formatted hard drives. Instructions have been created for supervisors, signage posted in equipment closets, and supervisor training in progress.

Highlights:
• Main Evenings: generally busier at Circ than I remember from the beginnings of other spring semesters, Thursday of Winter Carnival was incredibly quiet; steady but not overwhelming equipment use; increased laptop use – 2nd laptop cart in use by late afternoon; evening library lights issue still not resolved; increasing activity in evenings – first report of midterms this week; Public Safety tending to do walkthrough soon after closing, good coverage from sub evening/closing shift
• Thesis Carrels; various carrel issues (locks, new keys, switches)
• Tracking Wilson Cafe use just before and just after closing Sundays through Thursdays for the next month or more to provide Dining Services with a sense of the overnight use in the Cafe for their own planning needs
• Armstrong: Printers down; BIH 202 not working – due to stolen ethernet cable – now fixed (thanks, Brian Foley!)
• Thursday Circ meeting: trained attendees on use of wiki, RSS feeds/readers
• Music: 25% of NExpress Feb requests from Music
• Stats: ran monthly stats, reports and lists; searching missing items
• Updated replacement values for books, CD’s and DVD’s; updated loan rules; web pages updated
• Reserves: JS out; others in Circ, ILL and CM covering
• Student employees: spring student schedules have solidified; still getting lots of inquiries about possible spring semester job openings; summer planning underway; training new student employees at Main ongoing; planning for a new student training workshop March 17th
• Equipment: Mac-formatted FW drive reimaging: instructions and signage posted, supervisor training in progress; five laptop locks added to collection; Music Library will officially begin circulating FS Macbooks; getting Music supervisor set up with reimaging instructions; coordinating long-term equipment loans: laptops and LCD projectors; billing issue
• NExpress/ILL: too long reports; troubleshooting NExpress borrowing and system issues
• Print management: release testing in progress – gathering feedback; planning next steps
• Meetings/workshops: HR PFDP meetings; trustee breakfast
• Arts and Crafts Exhibit – planning
• LISt blog, Circ blog and LIS enews – borrowing updates
• PFDP’s underway; timeline set and meetings scheduled
• DVD re-class project – planning

Challenges
• Axinn classroom light conditions – semester long LCD proj request
• LD formats – no viewing capability in Axinn classrooms
• Reserves – limits on # of items placed on reserve at BLSE and BLNM
• Yellow cables – working through the Seven Stages of Grief
• Summer student employment – internships and LS – pending acceptances and financial aid offers in conflict with employment contract deadlines
• Printer problems at Armstrong
