Progress on Goals:

Goal: Develop workflow policies/processes and standards for removing personal data from loaner equipment.
• Revised Macbook instruction sheets are complete and in all laptop cases; how-to documentation for FS laptop reimaging is complete (and in shared folder); staff training/reimaging workflow discussions are in progress

Goal: Develop reliable and accurate measurements at circulation service points to document activity and quality of services.
• Started keeping head count at closing at Music Library
• Students continue to keep the desktop statistics at Armstrong

Goal: Develop regular schedule and content for student training; increase staff supervision skills; increase ability of student workers to work independently utilizing good judgment; formalize and improve consistency of documentation, supervision and training by Circ supervisors; consistent expectations and knowledge base of student workers and supervisors across all branches.
• Met with other supervisors and have started updating the WIKI with training, hiring, policy documentation
• 1 confidentiality agreement in use for student workers across all Circ
• Students continue to read the blog daily for updates; blog utilized for updates, changes to policy and procedure
• We continue to train new students, as “situations & opportunities” come up

Highlights:
• Reserves, reserves, reserves at all three branches!
• Student employees: schedules, training new students, summer hiring preparation, working on training and policy documentation
• Thesis carrel preparations
• Equipment: Continued integration of new Fac/staff Macbooks into loaner pool; pulling older Macbooks for reimaging; 12 iPods on four-hour Reserve for Spring Term (to be used only as back up to regular seven-day iPod pool)
• Music: Hit hard with reserve on first day of classes; 30 ILL’s on Monday; two days in a row now of 15+ NExpress CD requests by the same borrower
• Armstrong: Break week was much busier than we expected – with user activity , ILL, Midd and NExpress requests etc.; finished gov doc weeding project; updated to Odyssey helper to streamline sending of ILL’s; training session with ILL staff; updating instructions; reserves processing
• Stacks: re-shelving up to date; shifting project continues; 2 permanent re-shelving areas designated
• NExpress/ILL: updated documentation
• Organizing “what we do” list
• Monthly Ilsley meeting
• Borrower data base: updates, documentation
• Print management – print release testing plan
• Webcast – Harvard Open access
Challenges
• Reserves, reserves, reserves!
• Facility issues on weekends when there are fewer staff scheduled
• Responded to major leak on upper mezz on Sunday
• New guest password did not generate over the weekend
• Equipment: Four Mac FW drives are currently “being repaired” status; 2 were pronounced dead this week and removed from Mill; two PC FW drives are “being repaired”; large number of paging and NExpress slips generated for pick-up over weekend
• Reduced student staff (illness; away on break, busy 1st week of classes etc.) to help with increase in Circ, Reserves, NExpress, ILL activity; unable to complete special projects during break
• Frequent student schedule changes as class schedules are finalized
• Film screening error
• High number of recalled books (bookstore posting books on-line) and students clamoring for the books
• Requests for textbooks at Circ
• Call numbers in bib and item fields cause shelf lists to sort wonkily
