Library Book Sale Starts on Tuesday 11/11

BOOK SALE INFO for Fall 2008

The regular sale will start promptly at 9:00am on Tuesday, 11/11 and continue during regular open hours until the morning of the 17th. (Items become free on Friday so the real “sale” ends then.)

The books will be downstairs in the Harmon Periodicals Reading Area.

Items may be purchased with cash or checks made out to Middlebury College.
Main Circ will collect payment. There will be a separate cash box for book sale payments.
The 1st day of the sale is restricted to faculty, students and staff of Middlebury College.
Please request to see a Midd ID at time of payment.

Most of the books are desensitized, but some of the record albums (that have Music Library markings) may not be. Just pass them around the gate if they set off the alarm.

Do not agree to let people save things behind the Circ. Desk to purchase later. Items must be purchased and taken away, or left on the carts for someone else to buy.

Full price will be charged for everything on Tues. and Wed. The prices will be cut in half (paperbacks two for the price of one) on Thurs. and everything becomes free on Fri. and throughout the weekend.

Questions can be directed to Joseph in the Preservation & Processing. X5487.

  1. Is the first day of the sale strictly for College students, faculty, and staff, and then open to the general public on Wed? We fielded a phone call from a community member about this.

  2. Yes – the 1st day of the sale is for College ID holders only.

The sale offers withdrawn and duplicate copies of books, VHS tapes, and other media for sale at great prices. All proceeds from the sale will be added to the library’s materials replacement fund. Because the low price asked for materials is in part a service to the college community, anyone purchasing items on the first day of the sale will be required to show a Middlebury College ID.
