• Finalized goals for FY 09
• Web 2.0 lunch time workshop with about new technology for play and productivity
• Main student workers did a great job of covering shifts for each other during break
• New hold slips – cleaner, clearer, brighter – also saves us the time of writing the patron’s name; testing use of receipt printer to reduce paper use
• Main – cleanup and consolidation of 24/7 stats; cleanup and indexing of thesis carrel binders
• Browsing DVD order list to Acq
• Cleaned up replacement search list
• Tutorial on new equipment. had an interesting discussion about space for equipment and clearing off old data
• Main – Thursday and Friday, pre break days, were extremely quiet, possibly due to good weather and people wanting to be out of doors
• Blogging – developed guidelines/practice for student pages/guidelines
• Equipment – Working on Equipment Training Tutorial for Circ students on the Wiki; preparations for welcoming 15 new hard drive camcorders into the Circ pool in the near future
• Equipment meeting: combo of full-time staff and subs able to attend; great questions, feedback, and thoughts as we look ahead to expanding the equipment we offer and revamping the way we check in items
• Student training planning for Oct 20th 4:30 PM Room 105
• Stacks – Oct break project – collaborate with Main Circ to work on shelf shifting project
• Music – One student worker quarantined (he is now fine); quiet Oct break
• Custom Hold slips went live to much applause and hoopla
• Updated workflow for replacement of missing items
• Armstrong – Last week ended on a very busy note as the students were taking midterms and finishing and printing assignments due before break; filed topo maps; many reference consultations for Carrie; very busy with Rapid, ILL, NExpress; Monday of break quiet, Tuesday busier than expected
• New space at Armstrong has been filled with furniture (taken from other areas in Armstrong – with much help from Joseph Watson). It looks great, and the students started using it immediately!
• Scheduling – all open shifts in Oct and Nov covered; Phil will return week of 10/20

Challenges:

• Less evening Info/Ref/HD coverage during break
• Campus-wide printing issues on Sunday morning; also, trouble accessing servers (this was part of the usual Sunday morning downtime, but students were unaware that this was happening). Questions about what role the Circulation Supervisor should play when these “technical difficulties” crop up (beyond emailing and leaving a voicemail for Helpdesk with the details of the problem)
• Continued printer woes on Main and Lower levels
• Self-check errors
• Time for re-org research and blog posting
