US Leader Weekly Report –

Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
• Circ student training meeting scheduled for 10/20
• Equipment orientation/training for Circ staff scheduled for 10/10
• TBA library hours finalized
• Annual report and stats – in progress
• Screening materials workflow meeting
• Mill Circ system parameters tweaks
• Web 2.0 workshops – planning
• Equipment – Six new Macbook power adapters added to equipment pool; one will make its way to Armstrong shortly; continued heavy use of PC-formatted FW drives — two have gone from “being repaired” to “available,” thanks to Dean! Surge in use of digital voice recorders — 21 out of 24 are checked out
• Stacks – major shelf shifting project on Main upper – making great progress; may have extra student help during Oct break; preparing for LC classed Japanese gift shelf location
• Goals: 2 great brainstorming sessions; goals – in progress on Circ Wiki
• Music – met with Joseph to discuss space changes at Music
• Armstrong – completed move of a large shelf unit of current journals and of older bound indexes back to ref index area to allow for removal of the two large shelves at the end of the ref. index area – to increase our floor space and open up the views to the west in what is now the media viewing area; re-shelving a large number of USGS 7.5 min. maps; shelf-reading; overall activity continues to be busy
• Main – carrel key/lock repairs/replacements; resolved minor screenings issues, good goals meeting, picked up more 10-midnight student shifts
• Scheduling for upcoming fall semester vacations
Challenges:
• Media on reserve for multiple classes
• New Arm printer had a few problems this week – Symquest was here, all set for now
• FMP display
• Student schedules and stress – lots of sub requests in evenings; few subs available; flu season and mid-terms coming up!
• Student Wages – impact on future student budgets? (minimum wage will increase from 7.68 an hour to 8.06 Jan 1 09 (in 2005 the legislature passed a law that required the minimum wage to increase every year by the rate of inflation or 5% whichever is smaller)
• Kaplan – status of study materials?
