Highlights:
• Completed major backlog of bills for lost library materials
• Training survey results posted on blog
• Armstrong: Ariel update completed; Outlook problems on front desk computers resolved
• Five new carrels installed and wired at Armstrong; user spaces busy and active
• Armstrong student employees training with Librarian for Sciences
• Group study spaces/room reservations at Armstrong –policies, procedures, signage, outlook set-up
• Main: 24/7 student training/orientation session; new (to Main) student training
• Increase in paging slips and retrievals
• Lots of rooms scheduled at Circ after Info shifts ended late eve/nights
• Planning LIS student employee holiday celebration 12/4
• Maura back – thanks to all for covering!
• Project – researching automating process of transferring replacement charges to college bill
• Self-check – new scanner arrived; to be installed on Wed
• 24/7 planning and preparation
• Eco bags flying off the “shelf”; bag stand arrived
• Student schedules and rosters: Outlook adjustments; planning for holiday recess periods, exams, 24/7, WT and SP schedules; Feb grads leaving; others returning from semesters abroad
• Reserves: Resolving broken links issue; one outstanding Circ student checked most of the links during the weekend, discovered 5 broken links, and replaced
• Equipment: in high demand! Juggling many reservation requests
• Lots of weekend visitors to the library with the VT Humanities Conference on Fri, Sat and Sun
• NExpress: testing cancellation notices to resolve notice problem; reviewing institutional loan rules and effects on item record statuses/behavior
• Reviewing recall and hold web settings/parameters to facilitate user initiated NExpress requests when Midd items are checked out
• Designed custom hold slips for Ilsley Library; implementation pending
• Stacks – hiring and training new workers; shifting project on upper level underway with new student employees
• Workshops etc.: Carrie’s Sciences workshop
• Meetings: all staff college finances meeting; all LIS staff open sessions; Helpdesk; met with BLWC coordinator

Challenges
• Microforms printers at Main
• Student schedule gaps at Main – following up on student absences; high stress
• Heavy equipment/laptop/building space use by patrons, patrons trying to stay late after closing at Main
• Reserves: EBSCO had scheduled maintenance last Thurs – ERes course page links broken as a result
• Reserve materials still being processes –Res media shelf space filled
• Assorted weekend server issues causing connectivity problems with the College website, Millennium, and ILLiad
• Equipment: Yellow cable supply is dwindling — many floating around the library and in carrels; demand for FS laptops and FW drives continues; negotiating several requests for long-term laptop loans, including Winter Term faculty; one of the FS Dells at Arm is currently at the Helpdesk and has some significant issues — will not be returning to circulation any time soon
