Sometimes things have to be checked out item-on-fly.
-When you scan the barcode an “item-on-fly” window pops up
-Click “New” (top middle)
-Type title of the item where it says “Type title here” (yes, even though it says call number…trust me – type the title).
-Click next (or press enter)
-Click “Save” (top middle, second button)
-Message “On the fly – return to cataloging” pops up. Click OK
-Due date defaults to 28 days. Alter as necessary.
You can also search for the item by title and/or call number – if a record exists, we may be able to “attach” the system record to a new barcode, rather than checking the item out on-the-fly. Refer questions to a Circ supervisor.
If there is no barcode, attach a new barcode – after looking carefully for an existing one.

On-The-Fly
Library materials that generate the message “on the fly” when scanned must be returned to Cataloging for processing before they are returned to the shelves. Please print out the message, check the item in and place on the Catalog shelf in the Circ returns area.
Thanks!
