Research Questions During Intersession
We don’t have Research Desk hours until j-term classes begin, but if the library is open, librarians are around! The go/askus page tells you how to find us. If you receive a research question, please don’t hesitate.
- During regular hours, the easiest thing to do is to call x5496. That number rings in all librarian offices, and one of us should be available to help on the phone or in person. Try us even outside of regular hours! Often, at least a few of us are here even during the dinner hour.
- You’re welcome to just walk over to our offices, too! Most of us are in the row of offices behind the Research Desk.
- At any hour, you also can use to the go/askalibrarian form, which sends an email to all librarians.
Please encourage all researchers to drop by! It’s not interrupting. It’s our job!
Renewing thesis carrels
I just sent out an email informing thesis students that if they need their carrel in J-term or Spring, they need to come to the desk with a Banner printout indicating they are enrolled in a 5,6, or 700 level class for EITHER J-Term or Spring.
Students – please refer all thesis key renewals to a supervisor.
If they are only enrolled for J-term, change the due date on their key to 1/31.
If they are enrolled for only Spring, or both J-term and Spring, change due date to 5/21.
If they are not enrolled in either, please do not renew their key. It is due back on 12/17. If there are any available, they can check back in J-term.
NExpress items from Bowdoin might be wonky
Bowdoin is doing something that might cause their NExpress items to behave weirdly in Millennium. If you encounter any weirdness, let me know. – Dan
Stats Week (11/11-17)
Here’s what you need to know. If you are working at the desk, and someone calls or comes up and ask you a question, record it on the website at go/zoho_circ. The categories are fairly self-explanatory, but let me know if you need clarification.
No book sale this year
In case you get questions at the desk – there will NOT be a library book sale this year.
Reminder about pink ILLs
When a pink-banded ILL is returned, please check it in and place it back on the hold shelf. Circ staff will clear these when the due date has passed. These items are in-library use only, so patrons cannot take them out of the library, but need to have repeated access to these items. So please leave them on the hold shelf (after checking them in). Any questions?
