Progress towards Goals
Goal: Develop workflow policies/processes and standards for removing personal data from loaner equipment
Progress: Created new user agreement for equipment loans; condensed three agreement forms into one that will be used for all equipment loans. The new agreement also covers updates to Fac/Staff laptop borrowing, and highlights the deletion of all personal files from equipment upon return
Highlights:
• 24/7 at Main – 2 nights of 24/7 done and all seems to be working well
• Last week of classes!
• III Millennium enhancement request voting – all votes submitted to Systems
• NExpress – enhanced service – added 3rd system renewal; created new item type and rewrote loan rule determiner table for NExpress DVDs
• Reviewed staff rotation program Arm/Main
• Equipment: Big equipment meeting for summer term planning: great group, good discussion and ideas; minutes posted on Circ blog; new user agreement for loaner equipment: hard copies for signing at desk, text posted on Borrowing Equipment page as well
• Student Employees: Schedules, schedules, schedules…Main – spring exam schedule is almost completely filled; the sub requests are flying already; fall schedule is almost filled; 4 new students hired for fall; training, orientation and shadowing has begun for 4 new summer hires; training for 24/7.; Music – exam sign-up underway; Armstrong – exam schedule looks good, all but only a few shifts are filled
• Main: very busy evenings in the library
• Armstrong: ILL requesting is slowing down
• Music: Performed with College Choir; stats highlight: 140 NExpress Music requests – highest of the year
• ILL and NExpress continue unabated
• Monthly search lists and stats generated, recorded and processed
• Stacks: thesis books returns; peak returns period; staff vacation last week; Main Circ assisting with re-shelving
• Reserves: Preparing books to send early to BLNM; preparing ERes for VT and NM
• Mosio – text a Librarian Service orientation/info meeting
• Collaborated on providing iPods to accompany photo exhibit in Main Atrium
• Participated in dissertation research interview on merged organizations
• Billing and replacements for lost/stolen library materials – end of term
Challenges:
• Main – Keeping student schedules straight
• Armstrong – A lot of student subbing to keep track of this week; another round of illness is hitting already stressed and tired students; unfilled shifts at front desk
• Self-check unit out of order – HD is resolving
• Equipment – all 24 camcorders checked out with bookings on top of bookings; tripods in high demand; no PC-formatted hard drives available; following up on overdues, bookings
• Returns peaking; re-shelving areas filling up
• A couple of screenings issues
• Minor guest incident – disruptive to students studying nearby
• The stairwell alarm door was set off
• Color printer problem – ate 3 of our Circ Desk transparencies before it suddenly started working correctly again
• Non-circ student behind desk desperately seeking privacy for cell phone conversation
• End of term/exam stress level rising
