Workgroups(s); Circulation Services – Circulation, Reserves and Stacks
Stats:
NExpress – all libraries – total 1843 requests (84.8% books)
Highlights:
• Circ meeting: Brainstorming priorities and service level agreements
• Hours posted for Oct break, Thanksgiving and Holidays
• Self-check working
• Oberlin stats
• Mill Circ: Updated circ hours in Millennium for Oct. break
• NExpress too long overdue, in transit, never received etc. follow-up
• Staffing: New rotational schedules working well; lots of opportunities for leaning new things in Circ and Reserves; great team effort!
• Student employees: issue with tardiness; changing schedules for fall break; grading circ training quiz; LOTS of schedule changes/subbing; training new student
• Borrower data base: manual entry guest borrower applications and special requests; weekly loads from Banner have greatly simplified our data base maintenance
• Staff workstation changes – phone, computing, space etc.
• Eliminate retrieval service for on-campus users – system parameters adjusted; advertising the change; posting signage; end of paging service advertised – effective Oct 1
• LIS Website Team: new LIS blog launched to much discussion
• Digital Archives Team: Figuring out meeting days/times for the semester
• Main: R
• Reviewing & revising Film Screenings Circ procedures as evening duties
• Thesis carrels: Fielding borrower questions on policy; collaborating with Stacks on new guidelines for carrel checks and emailing all current holders of a locker or carrel to tell them of the changes
• Music: Lots of ILL (with fewer days to do it); lots of NExpress
• Armstrong: Lots of printer support; print status board very helpful; lots of ILL requests
• Stacks: Clearing assigned carrels
• Loaner Equipment: Presented equipment tutorial for Circ supervisors; major equipment clean up in Mill, with many thanks to Richard
• Reserves: Electronic and hard copy requests still steady
• Weekend: Steady activity
• Searching for materials with missing status
• Circ web pages; Continued work on the Web page redo; borrowing documentation moved to LIS wiki from CMS; Music Library web pages inventory
• Preparing for Dartmouth College October Conference presentation – learning Prezi!
Challenges
• Printer problems at Arms – 203K and 161 down
• Plotter support and assisting first time users is very time consuming; constant demands for support
• Power outage for about 3 hours on Sunday – went relatively smoothly
• Continuing occasional printer problems over weekend at Main
• Adjusting to staff reduction and schedule changes
• Saturday night: Minor disturbance outside Main Library: PS responded quickly
• Laptop request for quarantined student
• Zoho stats down
• Student management and communication when not on site
• Heavy demand for external hard drives; following up on loaner equipment overdues
• Room reservations – time consuming; continuing to field many room reservations; user confusion re reservation guidelines – which rooms LIS reserves etc.
• Screening scheduled for Monday but listed for Tuesday in FMP
• Very few new books for display
• SNAKE (alive) in Armstrong 208!!
