Circ Meeting, Wednesday Dec. 15th
Present: Morgan, Todd, Kim, Janine, Nancy, Kellam, Dan
recorded and presented here by Dan
Check-in around the table:
– Kellam: Everything is off reserve in Millennium. Students are de-dotting everything. Will reshelve when the regular reshelving slows. Winter and Spring items are both being added now, though only winter items will be on the reserve shelves.
– Nancy: Lots of returns to Armstrong.
– Janine: equipment inventory, will do at the end of every semester, replace missing parts, clean up Millennium. Any film screenings in January? Not a lot.
– Kim: students will sign up for Spring at the beginning of J-term. Students not here for J-term can sign up now. There is a folder in Outlook for potential student employees. Direct inquiries to Kim. For 24/7, a reminder email each morning to students working overnight might help confusion. (Dan updated the wiki)
– Morgan: All ILL lending stops 12/17. Dan is checking with Mike about a NExpress cut-off date.
– Discussion of training issues surrounding new students, students from the branches, how to improve. We will plan to do a group training in January either as part of the customer service training or separate. Also, make a mid-semester training meeting mandatory for new students to cover things that may have been missed in initial training. Issues this semester included browsing DVDs and reshelving areas. Agreed to the need for consistency, will re-examine training check lists.
– Discussion of headphones at circ. Agreement was reached that we would rather have more of the current “big” headphones that everyone likes as opposed to some cheaper ones and some more expensive ones. Dan will contact Media Services.
– Dan is planning to create a Circ FAQs page on the borrowing page. Please send any suggestions to him.
– Brief discussion about closing the library and what to do with people still in the building. In general, we need to be firmer about insisting people leave.
