Highlights:
• First week of term – crazy busy; continued busy at Arms and Main, but a bit calmer by Friday
• Reserves – crazy busy processing; still lots coming in by 2nd Monday of term; under control with many helping hands;
• Finalizing Circ goals
• Billing and Credits backlog processed
• Carrel Monday! Small crowd at noon for the line-up; carrel Monday went smoothly, 31 of 70 carrels given out in 3 days; updated form and documentation
• Weekend – Moderate weekend on both Friday and Saturday; generally busy in the earlier part of the afternoons and evenings and quieting down the last hour or two; projects – searching; inventory of browsing yearbooks; book sweeps
• Film screenings – booking system going well; collaboration with MS and CM to ensure availability for self and supported screenings; a few bumps in the booking road, but generally smoother; integration with Mill Circ helpful
• Student employee management – good response to blog assignment; developing consistent documentation for student employees at all 3 branches; schedules mostly settled; a few shifts still to be filled at Arms and Main; two Music students trained at Main for regular shifts; Main student schedules on Google!
• Wiki – work transferring, editing, reviewing documentation from old Circ wiki to new LIS wiki department page – almost done!
• Staff schedules and workflows – tweaking Main coverage; learning new skills/x-training including reserve processing; planning for short-notice and vacation gaps; flexing schedules to ensure Monday Reserves support; Main gaps during lunch and dinner hours
• Arms – ILL requests are up this week; typical for late February into March
• Music – monthly Music Library meeting
• NExpress REALLY busy – both borrowing and lending; hold shelf brimming
• Re-configured Main circ desktops with new frequently used links
• Sunday was exceptionally quiet at Main, including Circ and Res mailbox activity
• Loaner equipment – Ethernet cable – researched user options for purchase
• Stacks – keeping ahead of the returns curve; planning reserved carrel sweep
• DA Team – 360 reviews, continued discussion of Center and Committee staffing
• CT Team – preparing to do focus groups
• Web Team – usability; blog template; user feedback
• Library hours – winter carnival hours; editing guidelines for regular hours of operation and exceptions
• PFDP’s – all scheduled over the next 4 weeks; will be completed by 3/22; web team 360 reviews completed
• Borrower data base – peak in guest apps and requests for exemption from annual fee; educator courtesy; high school students taking classes; local auditors of classes; Segue access for auditors
• Eliminated mid-morning courier between branches
• End to ILL CD processing at Music
Challenges
• Virus on Music Circ front desk computer
• Continued issues with re-imaging front desk computers; no deepfreeze
• Student employee printing from the Libcirc1 dept. computers – develop policy?
• Broken links on web pages; unfamiliar navigation of new College web site
• Room scheduling – changes to procedure for users; spur of the moment after 5 and on weekends?
• Peak on overdue ILL and NExpress loans
• Recording stats for non-circ type activity at the Circ desks
• Print changes – user dissatisfaction
• Another FW drive down!
