The procedure for iPad returns has been altered. http://mediawiki.middlebury.edu/wiki/LIS/Circulating_iPad Basically, we are only factory resetting them and letting people set them up as a new iPad when they check them out. The pre-installed apps will no longer be included. If patrons want an app, they will need to download it themselves. We will still erase all data when the iPad is returned.
I’ve updated the iPad documentation on the wiki. The important thing is to make sure that the patron has signed OUT of their iCloud (if they signed in). Details here: http://mediawiki.middlebury.edu/wiki/LIS/Circulating_iPad#Procedure_for_clearing_circulating_iPad_after_circulation
When you synch the iPads, you will probably be prompted to update iTunes and the iPad hardware to iOS5. Please just ignore this for now – I have booked all of them for a day in December and I will update all of them then.
We now have four iPads ready for circulation to faculty and staff at the Davis Family Library circ desk. Right now, only LIS staff have been informed of this, so hopefully only they will be asking to take them out. However, they are available to all faculty and staff for two week loans. They are housed in the file cabinet to the left of the phone. Please treat them as any other piece of equipment and leave them on the red cart for circ staff to check in.
