User Services Weekly Report

Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics:
• Number of student interviews conducted in January: 8
• Number of people who have given us grief at the circ desk for actually requiring IDs: 1
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Plenty of ILL/NExpress
• Few reserves
• 161 Lab being updated to Windows 7
• Bindery shipment ready to go out
• Training new students
Davis Family:
• 6 new students hired
• Training
• J-term quite busy at the desk, not all shifts filled
• Kim shifting schedule to have Saturday and Tuesday off for Spring term
• Adjusting NExpress loan rules to block requests on new browsing books (other NExpress schools surprisingly unwilling to allow this…)
• Tracking down missing equipment, billing for long-overdue items
• Evenings pretty quiet, especially when it is so cold
Stacks:
• Reshelving new and re-classed browsing books
• 700+ CDs coming up to circ from the cataloging backlog – new workflow developed for these
• Need to hire at least two more students
• Chinese project complete
Reserves:
• Plugging away at J-term and Spring reserves
• Out sick

Web team: Planning usability testing / made improvements to the Helpdesk webpage
Space Team: Todd has agreed to serve on the Space Team – thanks Todd!
CT Team: n/a

Challenges:
• Connection broken on ILL/NExpress scanner at Armstrong – delayed many requests. Seems to be working for the moment.
• 1 circ computer at Armstrong died
• No copier/printing cards available for guest borrowers
