Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics: number of books circ is searching ONE MORE TIME before charges are transferred to college bill: 106
Number of new student hires: 10
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Library busy in the mornings, quieter after noon
• ILL and Nexpress steady
• Electricians working to fulfill 2008 request for five additional computers in the reading area
• Working on bindery shipment
• Students are shelf reading
Music:
• Business as usual
• Spring schedule draft is out, no problems so far (knock on wood)
Davis Family:
• Customer Service training with Helpdesk students and Circ students – two sessions last week – 30 attendees
• Also touched on a few circ training reminders, ref reminders, distributed T-shirts!
• Billing
• Interviewing and hiring for Spring and Fall – 10 new students hired
• New student trainings
• Met with FMMC faculty to discuss moving DVDs into the stacks, other media move issues
• Collected stats on media use for aforementioned meeting
• Collected stats for Carrie re: Armstrong gate count and circs over last five years
• Sneaky plans for Feb grads (shhhh)
Stacks:
• Carrels all checked out
• Meeting with potential shelving students for Spring work
• Catching up on reshelving
Reserves:
• Spring and Winter ERes
• Connected with BLSE office re. summer reserves
• Looking forward to a month-long online workshop re: digitizing materials (I did NOT make this one up, I promise! – DF)
• Looking forward to translating the Dead Sea Scrolls into Klingon (I may have made this one up…)
CT team: LMS Pilots underway – planning for Course Hub marketing
Space Team: Planning for the collection shift and figuring out what should live on compact shelving

Challenges:
• Patrons ignoring emails about being billed
• Blatant disregard of my authority
• Minor peasant uprising (quelled)
