Circulation Services – Circ, Reserves, and Stacks

Statistics: number of goody bags packed for student employees: 60
Pounds of chocolate per bag: approximately 1.32 lbs
Gate count during overnight hours of 24/7 exam period: 1617 exits
Total number of items on reserve for Fall, 2010, all branches: 2786
Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
Armstrong:
• Staff shortages due to illnesses
• Bindery shipment sent out
• Fall reserves removed
• ILL activity still high
• Searched missing books
• Tidied up library in quiet time
Music:
• Reserves will come off today
• Very low activity
• Discussing music equipment options for move to Davis
Davis Family:
• Audible sigh from the library relaxing after 24/7 heard as far away as Bristol
• Packed goody bags for the students
• Spring sign-up will happen 1/3/11
• Very high activity at the circ desk
• Lots of bins back and forth to the branches
• Libcirc mailbox very busy with claims returned items Fri and Sat
• Questions about thesis carrels
• Inventory of circulating equipment underway
• Will send out equipment replacement wishlist this week
Stacks:
• A few things to reshelve
• Shelf measurements for P-Z, bound periodicals, and Language Collections completed and reported to the space committee
Reserves:
• All items removed from reserve – working on physically removing items from reserve shelves
• Processing Winter term and Spring reserves
CT team: LMS pilot sessions – discussing next steps ; Segue migration proposal sent to AD’s
Space Team: Met with AD’s ; discussing which items might go on compact shelving in the new arrangement

Challenges:
• Misshelved media makes Kellam ANGRY. Kellam SMASH.
• Heated argument between two students in front of the circ desk – diffused
• Loud cell phone user and angry patrons – diffused
• Evil super-genius (Sir Vontays) bomb discovered disguised as a copy of Don Quixote – diffused
• Circ staff computer freed of viruses
