Stats:
Student budgets 3rd Quarter – on target (on average) across work areas; some a little up/others a little down (bodes well for single budget for Circ students in ’11)
Main: 77.9%
Mus: 68.9%
Arms: 77.8%
Res/ILL 63.9%
Stacks: 81.3%

Highlights:

• General activity levels: pace is picking up – full speed ahead to the end of term; evenings busy at Main Desk; increase in Ref questions at Main Desk; increasingly busy with everything
• 24/7 and exam hours planning, scheduling and preparation – lots of details!
• LS and BL planning in full swing; LS handbook contributions/edits
• Yellow cables – trial service “trade ID for cable”
• RSS workshop – organized for Circ monthly meeting – open to all in LIS
• Mountains of book returns Mon 4/26; increase in overall returns of books – the wave has begun!
• Student staffing and schedules – lots of subbing going on; gaps in the schedule; Finals sign-up is going well at Arms, started Fall schedule sign-ups; still some schedule gaps for overnight and exam shifts at Main; wrapping up the summer contracts, competing with summer internships, etc.
• Circ staffing – stretched thin with vacations and conferences
• Main weekend evenings – quite busy and active though dinner hour, then settling down a bit; sweep of all three floors and printer rooms; no problems other than one printer running out of toner (replaced), user PC on Circ desk stopped working (fixed by HD)
• Hiring committee meetings & preparation; informational interviews; developing questions; timeline
• Reserves – continuing to work with BL faculty on their reserve needs for the summer; Spring reserves still coming in each day!
• Armstrong – tons of ILL, etc. requests to process; problems with ILL @ Armstrong (ok now); printer, and print release problems @ Armstrong on weekend (ok now)
• All staff meeting
• Managers meeting – HR/hiring process
• Library hours – edits to wiki page
• IUG conference and report
• Outlook finally fixed at Music – still waiting on Main
• Stacks – College staff on “light duty”, assisting with shelf cleaning; currently up in the N-group of books, will be with us thru the end of the week.
• Loaner equipment – peak activity and heavy equipment use (almost empty equipment storage closet); requests to support off-campus summer projects; new firewire drive testing, new procedure for fac/staff PC laptop login at check-out; Ethernet cable discussion for quick implementation; following up on overdue/broken equipment; heavy equipment usage — especially camcorders over the weekend
• Communicating changes to lost and found, book/gift donations policy
• Digital Archives Team – shift in leadership, continued evaluation of current digital projects
• Web Team – usability testing progressing well; discussing future of web team

Challenges

• 3M gate – time for service call?
• Large amount of printing on LibCirc1
• Crazy Friday – Server down – print release not working during prime print time (weekly papers due); many last minute equipment requests; urgently needed materials; guest borrower inquiries
• Last minute display/exhibit requests for assistance
• Issue with guest/visitor access to materials without a guest borrowing card
• Lost books and equipment
• Papercut – permissions (fixed)
• Main Library door issues
• Confusion re: room scheduling: who and how and where
• Staffing stretched thin due to vacations and conference travel
• No students for about an hour on Saturday afternoon due to last-minute sub request and malfunctioning alarm clock
• Printer at Music failed Monday night into Tuesday morning. Fixed now.(Symquest)
• Possible problem with ADA at front entrance during 24/7 – Main (reported; doors will need to be rewired; office notified)
• Office 2007 – licensing restrictions?
