Progress on goals:
Goal: Complete major collections shift on upper level at Main
• Phase 1 completed Dec 08
• Phase 2 completed July 14th

Highlights:
• Monthly Circ Meeting – schedule planning for upcoming staffing gaps; staffing analysis
• VCAL borrowing live – cards arrived; local policies, procedures; staff and user documentation
• Proposal to present at Dartmouth October Conference accepted
• Teams: LIS website – survey coming soon; Digital Archives – working on team metrics, vision completed;
• On-call team covering gaps in the weekend and evening schedule; regular staff flexing schedules to fill desk schedule gaps
• Planning and Development: more work on User Services priorities and values
• LIS Project Directory meeting
• Reviewing guest borrowing policies with Systems
• Processing bills and notices for lost/unreturned materials
• BLSE: tweaking loan rules, mediating requests; borrower data base; book display
• NExpress – too long reports – lots of searching and follow-up; testing requests for Davison pick-up
• Mill Circ: testing bib/item holds priority
• Music: Working on small shifting project and pre-1900 weeding project
• Equipment: Maintaining inventory and following up on due dates and bookings
• Student employees: Great team of summer student employees; Main covered for Music Desk gap; quieter ILL/Res/Circ activity levels allow for tackling some back-burner projects: shift trading – responsibility for shifts demonstrated
• Main: less traffic observed at halfway point of the 9 week schools
• Stacks: Specific sections assigned to specific student employees for maintenance and shelving
• Armstrong: Movable shelf tracks cleaned and oiled; the BIG Map project continues – set up mobile work station to facilitate the work; we’re in the flow of the summer now as training is wrapped up and all is going well; library computing and space is busy
• Reserves: Bread Loaf Writer’s Conference requests received; titles searched, and lists created. Purchase requests sent to Collection Management Order Office; Film Screening requests still coming in

Challenges
• Circ staff calendar temporarily unavailable – resolved
• Holds placed on items that can be requested through NExpress
• Multiple door alarms from incoming BLSE students (Davison has no way to desensitize books)
• Continued complaints from LS students about squeaky front doors
• Copy/print card confusion; LS student purchased print card to use in copier; guest added value to another account on guest print station
• BLSE: accuracy of borrowing records, transactions, security of materials when desk is not staffed and library open; misc facility issues; request too long in transit; NExpress item sent back too soon; Midd accounts not activated; requests for restricted media; accuracy of hold-shelf
• LS at Mills – requests not paged
• Mill Circ: Error in fine history – resolved
• Security log-in issue shut down most Armstrong computers – HD resolved
• Armstrong: Loaner laptop registration issue – resolved
• Armstrong: Movable stacks still locking up (oiling tracks helped but did not resolve completely)
• Connection to Wiki failed – HD resolving
• Backpack theft (off-campus) – loaner equipment and library materials
• No show for film screener scheduled to show film in Dana
• Film screening info in FMP does not always current
• July 4th gate counts not recorded
