US Leader Weekly Report –

Highlights: (Progress towards Goals, accomplishments)
• 2 productive SWOT meeting discussions
• The fun never ends – two streakers in/out of the Library on Sat
• Hundreds of yellow cable found at Main(thanks Amy!); still many missing at Armstrong
• Created Clips video tutorial to create desktop wallpapers; setting up new desktop images with shortcuts to stats, blog and wiki
• Restarted Staff Picks at Music
• Set up access to Outlook calendar for Armstrong room scheduling
• Blogging – activity up! Promoting student blog pages – now required reading at the beginning of every shift!
• Equipment – Met re: the Kindle and its possible place in our equipment pool. Still a lot of research to be done before this could be a reality. I’ve reached out to the Learning Commons Director at NCSU to hear how they’re handling eBook readers
• Security patch updated on all FS Dells at Main and Arm. Contacted borrowers who currently have FS Dells checked out to update their laptop
• Front Desk computers – security patches applied
• Music – slow week
• Armstrong – continues to be busy; ILL, Rapid, NExpress activity busy; equipment activity busy; installed updates, registered computers; 2 new computers at Circ Desk
• Armstrong – students are using the new furniture-filled space
• Planning and preparation for upcoming absences; the whole team is jumping in to cover
• Created and sent out student Key Survey training session evaluation – getting great feedback!
• Gospel here for a visit
• Student Employees – lots of shift trades but very few actual gaps; a few schedule conflicts that had to be excused
• Workshops etc. – HD Office 2007 Preview; VWHE Conference; HD Protecting you PC
• Eco bags – working on promotion/roll-out
• Tweaking screening media and repair workflow

Challenges
• Student blog pages – very few student employees have accessed and commented on the student blog pages
• Continued external hard drive crunch — no PC drives available, turning away many borrowers
• Webcams are increasing in popularity — our supply of two is not meeting demand
• Incidents of equipment neglect, some damage, tricky billing/replacement, very overdue equipment jeopardizing bookings
• Both Steve and Maura out next week
• Self-check still having problems – another service call requested
• Continued high demand on equipment by students and staff (firewire drives, yellow cables & laptops)
