• Wiki and Blog Workshops – many thanks to Joe A and Laurel T. for presenting!
• Laurel is available to help 1:1 anytime! She can be contacted by email or in person at the Media Lab
• Let Elin know if you want a workshop handout
• Wiki = quick in Hawaiian
• Go/wikis and go/blogs – log in with your username and password
• Anyone can read; need a Midd login to edit
• Midd wikis are now on Google search
• Always search before creating a new page
• You can choose to “watch” a page to be alerted to any changes to wiki pages
• Set up your profile
• When making changes, write a brief description of changes in the summary field
• Give the blog and wiki a try!
• The Circ Blog and the Circ Wiki are intended to help facilitate communication and development and archiving of workflows/documentation for Circulation Services
• Unlike our shared folders – which have their place for internal documentation that cannot or should not be posted on the web – content on the blog and wiki is searchable
• Each has its place – and a slightly different purpose
• Blog – communication; weekly reports; meeting notes; conference notes; FYI/memo; staff profiles and contact information
• Wiki – documentation and development of workflows; platform for shared projects; student pages
• Shared Folders on Snowleopard – confidential, restricted internal documentation; excel documents (like the stats spreadsheet); signage

WIKI
o Some documents have been posted on the wiki
o When looking for procedures/workflows, please search the wiki first
o Please make any edits to documentation directly on the wiki
o When creating new documentation, please use the wiki
o Documents on the shared folder that have been added to the wiki will have the word “WIKIFIED” added at the end of the file name and UPDATED VERSION ON WIKI (with date) at the top of document
o If you update the wiki with a document/procedure (please do – many hands make light work!), please use this format to alert others that it has already been moved

BLOG
o When looking for communication, meeting notes, general updates etc, please search the blog.
o When posting on the blog, remember to use categories

This is a work in progress – feedback is welcome and wanted – it will take the whole team to make it work!

FYI
• Kellam has completed the first draft of the equipment web page. Check it out at http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/lis/help/borrow/equipment/. Includes loan period info, quick tips, links to manuals and MIDCAT availability. Feedback welcome!
• VCAL – VT Consortium of Academic Libraries – updated web page at http://www.middlebury.edu/academics/lis/about/library_info/departments/circulation_department/borrower_information/reciprocal.htm. More details to follow.
• Library hours have been finalized and updated on the web. Please look carefully for any errors or typos!
• Please update Outlook work schedules to reflect changes to library hours.
• Please refer to Mary’s message regarding working on the 25th. We’ll be open at the branches and can provide services from there – should be a low activity day.
• For ILL questions/issues when no ILL staff are scheduled – please email the MDY mailbox and copy Rachel – and Lib Circ mailbox
• BLSE breakdown and BLWC set-up on Tuesday 8/12! Both on the same day this year due to the road closing/flood damage.
