hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

No, this has little to no critical value for us, except that we might argue that YouTube gives us a great way to try to see our own faces in other people.

Anyway, I think this has been roving the vast series of tubes for a while, but I just found it this morning.

“I can’t walk, but I can belly laugh okay.”

Addiction.

After one of my housemates caught me playing Civ IV as a study break and I admitted that it was “highly addictive,” he felt compelled to show me this video.

I know I’m not alone now.

I’m on YouTube!

So a year and a half ago I was only using my computer for email, AIM, and TextTwist. My sister actually made a Facebook account for me and then gave me the password. Now I’m blogging with you guys, running Firefox, and uploading video to stream on the net. Woohoo! What a rush.

YouTube was surprisingly easy to join and use. Easier than, say… navigating a Mac! (I run Windows… and I LIKE IT! You can all jump out of the shadows and eat me now.)

I only have one video up so far, my final project for Sight and Sound I, and I don’t know if it counts as remix culture. It certainly borrows from other media and even has something to say about it, and I’d like to know what you guys think.

Is it sad that I take extremely nerdy glee from being able to embed videos in this blog thing?

Use of Media

I thought I’d post this video both because it’s funny, and also because it adds to the discussion from last class about using different media to express an idea or belief. The idea is a music video parody of James Blunt’s, “You’re Beautiful,” and just like all other parody videos, it displays the belief of the creator that the original had the potential to be remixed for a certain reason. So, instead of using text and writing a paper, or using audio alone and remixing the song, this person remade the video and added his own personal twist to it.  Enjoy, and feel free to post other interesting parodies…
