National Council on US-Arab Relations Summer Internship
The National Council on U.S.-Arab Relations’ 2022 Washington, DC Summer Internship Program offers students a ten-week professional, academic, and career opportunity internship with an organization in the nation’s capital. The program features a demanding mix of professional involvement, intellectual challenge, career exploration, and cross-cultural encounters designed to provide students with a rich and varied experience.
- Professional work experience: Students are placed with one of over a dozen Near East and Arab region-related organizations with offices in Washington, D.C., where they are expected to work 35-40 hours per week under the direct supervision of their host organizations. Internships are unpaid.
- Academic seminars: Students take part in twice-weekly seminar sessions designed to provide them with greater depth of knowledge about the Arab region, to underscore the cultural, economic, and political diversity of Arab states, and to explore the intricacies of Arab-U.S. relations. There will be a particular emphasis, though not exclusively, on Arabia and the Gulf.
- Site visits: Students receive a behind-the-scenes look at many of the central institutions of the federal government, national security policymaking, international diplomacy, and international business.

Middlebury Opportunities for Innovators
MiddChallenge: the application for Middlebury’s Innovation Hub’s annual idea/pitch competition will be launching soon, with a March 28th deadline. As a reminder, The Innovation Hub will accept project proposals in 4 categories (Art, Business, Tech, Social Impact & Sustainability) for $3000-4000 grants to be used over the summer. MiddChallenge grantees will have the option to stay local and be part of the Vermont Innovation Summer cohort program; with opportunities across the innovation ecosystem in Burlington, including at the Hula campus. TEDxMiddlebury: the TEDx conference is scheduled for April 21st at 7:30pm in Dana Auditorium. Our student Speaker Competition for those hoping to speak at the conference will be held the weekend of March 5-6th at the Innovation Hub.

Freedom in the World 2022-2023 Junior Fellowship
Freedom House seeks candidates for the nine-month Freedom in the World Junior Fellowship program. Each Junior Fellow will join Freedom House as a fixed-term, salaried employee, eligible for benefits. Junior Fellows are responsible for managing the research for one of the six geographic regions covered by Freedom in the World.
Applicants must be 2022 graduating seniors in an applicable field or individuals who have completed their undergraduate degree between fall 2021 and June 2022. Students who have begun or completed graduate studies are not eligible. The fellowship begins ~July 1, 2022 and ends on March 31, 2023. Junior Fellows are highly encouraged to be based in either New York or DC, but remote work is possible. Candidates must possess authorization to work in the US. Non-nationals who are eligible for OPT under their F-1 visas through March 31, 2023, may apply.

San Francisco Fellows Program now accepting applications from seniors
The mission of the San Francisco Fellows program is to foster community stewardship by preparing recent college graduates and young professionals for roles in public service and administration.The Fellows program is a unique opportunity to learn about public administration in local government while working full time as a City employee. Competitively selected applicants will join a cohort of up to 20 Fellows for an 11.5-month full-time work experience as City employees. Fellows will earn an annualized salary of approximately $62,000, plus health, dental, retirement and other benefits.

Fellows work on various programs and projects that have a direct impact on City operations which spans a broad range of City functions and departments, involving analysis, planning, and program development.

Fellows gain valuable full-time professional work experience and skills such as leadership, communication, technical skills and other professional development. The cohort experience includes regularly-scheduled learning sessions built into the Fellows’ work schedule to provide a well-rounded, thorough introduction to San Francisco government operations, policies and strategies.
Fellows are paired with mentors who support the Fellows and provide advice, guidance and networking opportunities for professional development. In addition, each Fellow is given guidance and support to prepare and compete for permanent civil service appointment to City employment by the completion of the fellowship year.

Considering a summer internship? Great news! The Center for Careers and Internships has funding for unpaid summer internships and applications are open! This year’s grants may be used for remote, hybrid, or in-person internships.
2022 Summer Internship Grant Overview:
$3500 Summer Funding Grants support expenses related to unpaid summer internships for Sophomore Febs through Senior Febs.
$1000 First-Year Explore Grants support expenses related to unpaid summer internships for First-Years (including new Febs) and Sophomore Febs.
$3500 Dance Festival Grants support dance students attending dance trainings/intensives.
Resume approval with a Peer Career Advisor (PCA) is required by April 1 before submitting application. (Resumes approved earlier this year or last year still qualify as approved.)
Meeting with a CCI Advisor to discuss your plans is required for First-Year Explore Grants and strongly encouraged for all other applicants.

Description
Four Hundred Feet is a drone consultancy that helps researchers, NGOs, and governmental organizations leverage drone technology for spatial data collection, supply-chain management, and visual storytelling. At Four Hundred Feet we are champions of #dronesforgood and believe drones have the ability to amplify the impact of social good organizations.
Work with Middlebury alumnus, Kat James who describes herself as “…a humanitarian drone pilot, cartographer, writer, and photographer. If you skimmed my resume, you’d see that I studied Geography and Global Health in college, earned a dual master’s degree in Public Health and Information Science, am an FAA certified drone pilot, and spent the past decade working on global health tech projects in low resources settings.”
We also are on a mission to diversify the drone industry and are dedicated to helping more women/BIPOC/Latinx/LBGTQ+ individuals enter the drone industry and amplify the voices of those individuals already working in the space.
I am looking for support doing in-depth research and creating content for social media, our website, blogs, and newsletters.
Topics are likely to include – how drones can be used to collect vital climate data, aid in infectious disease research, conduct refugee camp mapping, and assist in reforestation efforts – among many others.
This would be an ideal position for a geography, global health, or environmental student who wants to learn more about emerging technologies in their discipline.
Qualifications
- Strong editing and proofreading skills and ability to write clearly and concisely.

- Interest or background in global health, international development, environmental studies, GIS

The Lime Connect Fellowship Program For Students with Disabilities is our flagship program in the U.S. designed for highly accomplished rising university juniors (current sophomores).
In case you’ve missed it, we have just opened up the applications for this prestigious program! For selected Fellows, the fun kicks off with our Leadership & Development Symposium in New York City* this summer with a focus on personal and professional development, community, access to our U.S. corporate partners, and potential Summer 2023 internships. Upon completion of the program, Fellows will join the lifelong experience of the broader Lime Connect Fellows community, where they will receive ongoing support and mentoring, continued professional development, community with Fellows from the previous classes, and networking opportunities throughout their careers.
2022 Lime Connect Fellowship Program Eligibility Requirements:
- A current sophomore (rising junior) at a four-year university in the United States
- Continuing studies as a full-time student for the 2022 – 2023 academic year

Each year a new cohort of FAO Schwarz Fellows begins paid, two-year assignments with leading nonprofit organizations
FAO Schwarz Fellows work at high-impact nonprofit organizations in Boston, New York City and Philadelphia. These organizations are all deeply valued in their communities and have a strong record of delivering consistent results and high-quality services. Host organizations vary from year to year—and all have a proven commitment to addressing critical issues of social inequity.
Fellows deepen their knowledge and understanding of relevant social issues, work directly with host communities, and lead strategic projects that strengthen the host organization’s capacity and impact.
Professional Development, Mentoring and Networks
The FAO Schwarz Fellowship is committed to investing in the professional development of our Fellows through a structured program of retreats, professional trainings, and mentoring.
Fellows attend two four-day leadership retreats each year to learn about the social impact sector, develop critical skills and build relationships with—and learn from—current and alumni FAO Schwarz fellows.
For many Fellows, these retreats are one of the highlights of their experience.
In addition to one-on-one weekly meetings with a supervisor, every Fellow has two mentors who offer support and guidance over the course of their Fellowship. Fellows also join a valuable network of current and alumni Fellows as well as leaders from host organizations.
After two years, Fellows are well prepared for successful careers in the social impact sector.
Compensation
Fellows who start their Fellowship during the summer of 2022 will receive total compensation of approximately $75,000 plus benefits over the two-year Fellowship.

The Nantucket Maria Mitchell Association (MMA) is offering two internships at its Natural Science Museum during the 2022 summer. The MMA Natural Science Museum displays exhibits about the biology, ecology, and geology of Nantucket, as well as hand-on activities for guests to explore science topics. Live animals on display usually include snakes, turtles, a tortoise, frogs, butterflies, and freshwater fishes. The ideal candidates have interest and experience with biology and environmental education.
