Applications open for Virtual Federal Service internship program
The Virtual Student Federal Service (VSFS) is a nine-month remote internship for U.S. citizen students, college-level and above, who would like to make a real difference in the work of the U.S. government. Since 2009, thousands of e-Interns have expanded the efforts of the U.S. government, working remotely from their school, dorm room, apartment, local library or coffee shop – wherever they happen to be!
The Virtual Student Federal Service is the largest virtual internship program in the world! This year we will offer 3,000 positions with 52 federal agencies. VSFS offers unique mentoring and exposure to job opportunities within the U.S. government.
Virtual interns work only on unclassified projects. They report to their mentors at the Department of State and other federal government agencies in the U.S. and around the world by email, phone, or video chat.

Remote Latinos, Media, and Democracy Fellowship
Since 2020, Equis has monitored English- and Spanish-language disinformation, misinformation, propaganda, and problematic messaging targeting Latino communities via social media and other online platforms.
They seek five Fellows to participate in a paid, learning-focused 16-week program that will comprise classes, hands-on projects, and research and monitoring of trends and narratives targeting the Latinx community across the United States.
The fellowship will be a 4-month (August 2022-December 2022) program; competitive rate ranging from $20 – $25 per hour for the duration of the fellowship. Candidates should have experience using social media platforms, an ability to translate technical information and research findings across diverse audiences, Spanish and cultural fluency, and a passion for Latino communities, and the issues that most affect us.

Lawfare PAID internship this fall
The Lawfare Institute—publisher of information and insight at the intersection of national security, law, and policy—is now accepting fall 2022 internship applications. The selected candidate will have the option of working remotely or in a hybrid model based in Washington, D.C. The deadline to apply is Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Lawfare will pay the selected intern $16.50 per hour. Applicants must be willing to commit to 35 – 40 hours per week during regular business hours (roughly 9:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. ET). The fall 2022 internship at Lawfare will run from September 12 to December 16.
Lawfare has emerged as the indispensable online and podcasting resource for information and analysis on issues at the nexus of national security, law, and politics. Devoted to “Hard National Security Choices,” the site features incisive writing and analysis from experts on developing stories in the national security arena, including relevant legislation and judicial opinions. It is a digital publication that includes podcasts, book reviews, research tools, a daily news roundup, an events calendar, and exhaustive coverage of events other media touch only glancingly.

Becoming an International Trade Specialist Through Fellowships: An Interview with Ashlyn Holeyfield

“Ashlyn Holeyfield is a senior international trade specialist in the Office of Trade Agreements Negotiations and Compliance at the International Trade Administration, which is part of the United States Department of Commerce. She’s responsible for investigating foreign government policies and analyzing relevant international trade agreements, including the World Trade Organization and US Free Trade Agreements to determine whether foreign governments are properly complying with the agreement obligations they have undertaken.”
