Project 1: Digitization
Researching ways we can convert VHS (and potentially other media) to digital format (DVD and/or electronic files). Find the equipment and software needed for this. Write up a procedure. If still interested & we have approval, begin the conversion.
Perks:
Get paid to watch movies (or do whatever while the movies are converted).
Good stuff for resumes: “Designed and implemented a process for digitizing X-number of VHS tapes thereby enabling future generations to use these materials beyond the analog sunset”.
C-level wages.
Project 2: Format Conversion
Researching ways we can convert existing lectures in real format to something more standard. Find the equipment and software needed. Write up a procedure. If still interested, begin the conversion.

Get paid to watch cool lectures (or do whatever while the lectures are converted).
Good stuff for resumes: “Designed and implemented a process for converting X-number of digital lectures from an obsolete format to an industry standard, thereby allowing future generations to benefit from these unique lectures”.

Project 3: Videography
Documenting the lecture capture process and working with Media Services staff on streamlining this process. After that’s done, and if still interested, we can hire the student(s) permanently as videographers.

“Streamlined & documented the lecture capture/recording process for the College’s LIS/Media Sevices department thereby saving time & money while allowing for increased number of high quality recordings”.
Real world experience in videography – practicing the video making process from beginning to end: Event setup, experience with using high-end video & audio equipment, video editing & publishing.
